Jackie and I had a large amount of material resources
to play with, or rather for the visiting children to
play with, thanks to the hosts of South Croxton
festival. Besides the usual variety of pens, paints
and paper etc, Jackie brought some wire for the older
kids to make small sculptures with and I brought along
the cardboard houses that formed my part of the
'decieve' exhibition for the children to customise.
Unfortunatly my house idea went off to a bad start as
they were mistaken for rubbish in their bin bags and
thrown away.
The two days however were a success as I was able to
make new houses and many children had their own ideas
on what they wanted to make so we just supplied the
materials and advice. Our tent became a social point
for children and parents alike producing a very
relaxed atmosphere encouraging children to engage with
each other about their ideas. Jackie formed a
following of some older girls who made wire sculptures
and simply hung out. |
