"The Journey of the Book" - An exhibition at Charnwood Museum To celebrate the centenary of Ladybird Books an exhibition at Charnwood Museum of drawings and illustrations by two local artists, explores the themes of ladybirds and children's books. Ladybird was a local Loughborough firm for many years and the famous children's books that were produced have formed part of everyone's childhood.

Artists, Jemma Rix and Christine Nelson are both members of 'Artspace', Loughborough's Contemporary Arts Collective. Jemma is working on her first illustrated children's book, containing original illustrations with text, using quirky imagery and strong colour. The idea of the book is a journey undertaken by little animals and the games they play on the way. She has used mixed media and drawing techniques to bring the story to life. Christine has explored the ladybird motif in different settings, using colour pencil techniques on paper.
