Workshop by artist Jemma Rix

As part of the Big Draw event, Artspace are linking with the theme 'Drawn From Memory,' inviting older generations to bring along item's personal to themselves to use in this drawing workshop. Utilising diary extracts, letters, postcards, photos and press cuttings the group will explore the connection's between their life's. The shared experience of being from the same place and generation. The group will look at objects from the museum's collections, stimulating discussion and reminiscence. Through drawing and collage the group will create a piece of artwork amalgamating their joint experiences. The workshop will also be recorded by dictaphone to capture the stories and discussion's that emerge from the process. The first session will start at 10am at Charnwood museum and continueuntil 12 noon. The second session will start at 1pm and will be a separate session from the first, so two collages will be created in the day. The workshop will be lead by Jemma Rix and other Artspace members will be there. There is easy access to the museum by ramp at the front and the side of the building. Drawing materials will be provided, could participants please bring along any of the aforementioned items to share with the rest of the group. Artspace is a voluntary arts organisation . Drawing Power has a simple but ambitious aim - to get everyone drawing.
The Campaign was initiated in 2000 by The Guild of St George, a small charity
founded by John Ruskin, the great Victorian artist, writer and visionary.
Ruskin saw drawing as the foundation of visual thought. His mission was
not to teach people how to draw, but how to see.
