I find traditional industrial scenery with its extremes of light and darks visually stimulating. This is particularly true of the Liverpool docks where the inner darkness of the ships hold and cargo shed gives way to the light flooding in through the huge doorways and hatches. The drama is heightened when the dust particles floating in the air help create a diffused light bringing to the whole an aura of unreality. |
Shown at the 'On the threshold' exhibition, June/July 2000.
